(While I understand their views of developing games, I'm still a little hurt that the PS3 didn't get the Left 4 Dead series.) Just thinking about it, Valve would probably cut out the PS3 market and lose money. However, they'd ensure that only a quality product is released for the other systems.
Exactly. If there's one thing that Valve does constantly it's delaying their games, but the final product is always worth it given their track record.

Also, Valve has repeatedly stated that coding for the PS3 is a nightmare, they gave The Orange Box to EA for the PS3 version because of that.

But then EA didn't do a great job of porting, which kind of lead to them abandoning the PS3. I guess they could have been a bit nicer when they announced the drop... Thankfully, though, I have a decent computer that can run their games. Unfortunately, I find it's sometimes easier to grab a console game instead of a PC game.

REJOICE!!! *does a dance* Um, I would like to take this moment to express how grateful I am for Gabe Newell and Valve to have made this announcement. *cough*

Unfortunately, they just corrected it by saying only Steamworks will be available. While I'm not too worried about cross-platforming multiplayer, I was more concerned about whether or not I could transfer my purchases. For example, what if I buy Portal 2 on PC and want to transfer it to my PS3? If the PS3 had the entire Steam service, would I be able to just download the game on both PC and PS3? I guess I'll never know, but that sure would have been nice...

Anyways, I would like to let everyone know that I almost had to get my vision checked today. Seriously, I was watching a live-stream of the Sony conference and when the suprirse came along... wow. Just wow. My eyebrows are in a permanent "suprised" position...

As for the trailer, the game is looking good. Seems there's going to be some more organic environments, which should make for some great portal play. Not only that, but there seems to be some more challenging portal play that might require some faster reflexes. Correct me if I'm wrong, trust me I usually am, but wasn't there also rumors of co-op gameplay?

That's not a rumor, but totally confirmed, just backtrack the thread a bit.

Anyway, seeing as they corrected it by saying Steamworks has me confused now. You still need Steam to authenticate your ID on the Steamworks servers. So there's no cross-platform multiplayer, but it's not much of a stretch to guess that Valve will use Steam Play like they did for the Mac.

My apologies! Aside from backtracking, I ended up looking it up later...

Hey, if they use Steam Play, I'll be the happiest person in the world. I am definitely getting more excited with each passing day. So, what did you think of the brief glimpse of gameplay we saw?

I haven't seen any gameplay as of yet, only the trailer which is on Steam. I'll try to look it up later.

Well, at least from what I remember, the E3 PS3 trailer had some quick scenes of gameplay. By quick, though, I mean really quick. I suppose it's nothing substantial, but I'll take what I can get.

MAJOR EDIT: Okay, once again I was wrong. Turns out that there are some videos of the Portal 2 demo at E3. My apologies.
