Le Freak, C'est Chic: The Miles "Tails" Prower Story

Born into a litter of six, Tails was the runt of his family and was picked on by his brothers and sisters especially due to his abnormality. Whilst four legged ducks and bi-headed cobras tended to get all the press however, Tails did not, and was abandoned either deliberately or accidentally depending upon which set of circumstances you are more inclined to believe.

Miles, as he prefered to be known back then, busked around the world playing his amazing tunes to rave reviews... at the side of pavements. Indeed Miles' shyness and secrecy surrounding his dual appendage (his TAILS, you filthy so and so) strapping them together with a dirty old hairband seemingly disapppeared as he played his banjo/kazoo tunes. Alas before he was able to become the next Bob Dylan he was mugged one dark stormy night by a bear with a talking backpack. Not only that but in his dazed state he could have sworn the rucksack was the one that took the bugle he was learning to play.

Penniless and lacking self-belief the young kitsune took a part-time job at a library and was soon wowing the librarians there with his surprisingly agile mind, managing to completely reorganise the alphabetised sections into a complete Dewey decimalised system in 46 minutes and 11 seconds.

Admittedly it was a small library, but Tails spent a full year and a half here reading and gaining knowledge specifically in the sciences until he was making small robots and machines. Unfortunately however, the jealous senior librarian took great offense at Tails demeanor and after complaining about the lack of bananas and bashing an apprentice wizard on the head (no, not that one) he schemed to get Tails thrown out of the building and after fiddling with Tails' "improved" coffee making machine he got his wish when the machine started screaming about how the water was scalding it and it exploded setting half the periodicals on fire and reducing the entire stock of Enid Blyton books to smoldering ash.

As the fire raged the librarian was trapped in the burning library with the floor rapidly collapsing around him. Despite all that he had done, Tails desperate to save his life exposed his dual appendage (SERIOUSLY, stop that!) and swirling them to try and bat the flames away managed to gain enough speed and downwards thrust to actually take off, allowing him to rescue the foolish librarian and depite everything gain that much needed confidence in himself.

With the library destroyed but the knowledge safe and sound in his foxy head 'Tails' as he had been dubbed by the press after the incident was a much happier fox. With money in, well, wherever it is he keeps his wallet he began wandering the wilderness before in 1992 he first met up by chance with the young Sonic, becoming firm friends after Tails treated him like a normal person and not some hyped up savior. Sonic always was greatful for that touch of normality.

Not long after Tails joined Sonic on his quest to stop the returning Dr.Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik, SEGA signed him to a multi-year contract and you know the rest. Naturally Tails ended up happily ever after, right?

Wrong. Tails is less than happy, as all the games did was force him on the world when he was still very young and he just couldn't cope with the pressure as well as Sonic could as a result. The public appearances, paparazzi and endless looking over his shoulder for agents of Eggman took their toll on Tails and he ended up emotionally scarred from an early age. Citing being forced to appear in Sonic 2 and "parade" as he put it, his abnormality before the gaming public.

Tails is very much the Peter Pan of video games. In fact when he finally did get to speak it was in the voice of a small child's smaller sister... on helium. Which might then not surprise you to learn Tails was the mastermind behind SEGA's decision to axe Ryan Drummond and the rest of the 'Sonic Adventure Years' voices and get in the Sonic X lot. He's smart this one, oh yes. It was actually part of a lawsuit settlement that Tails won against SEGA, more on that later.

Credited as being aged 8 we somehow don't think this two-tailed orphan is that young, not only does he fly his own plane he also MADE it with his own two (or is that perhaps four?) paws. 'Tails' is a mechanical genius and a rival even to Eggman, but is rather humble about his talent. Sonic looks at Tails as a younger brother, a feeling Tails reciprocates. However, although he used to chase Sonic endlessly it's Tails now at the stage where he's the one saving Sonic's sorry @$$ as opposed to the other way around.

As a result of his prior exploitation (not by the current SEGA people, they're nice and cuddly) Tails is extremely glad to be speaking in speech-bubbles, even now his voice isn't half bad. Still, he harbours serious resentment about you. Yeah you. Pointing at his two Tails and getting entertainment out of them. You might think he's soft and polite but you ask him for an autograph and he's likely to shove that pen right up your left nostril.

After all he's none too pleased with people trying to set him up with Cream, hasn't heard of 'Cosmo' and is machine washable at forty degrees which is handy. Oh and DON'T call him Miles now - people who do tend to 'disappear'.... O_o

In terms of where he stands currently in the Sonic Wrecks scheme of things Tails is very much the guy who floats between the Sonic and Shadow groups. He can come up with a very barbed putdown if required, but at the same time has been known to really throw a tantrum when he can't get his way or easily fly into a panic. Tails is more keen than normal to bust out his ass-kicking boots/gloves - hey, what else does he wear? That and he is keen to have a rematch with Metal Sonic after Metal refused to fight fairly and beat Tails easily.

So he's really smart, but doesn't realise the bad guys don't play by the rules, oh well.

Though intregued by what he and Eggman in cohoots might be able to build, Tails wants to prove once and for all he can stand alone and will do anything, ANYTHING to do so. - and that makes Tails potentially one of the most dangerous characters out there and one hell of a loose cannon. Only time will tell.
