They said it would never happen, but of course they were wrong. MArio & Sonic faced each other for the first time on Nintendo Wii and in sports such as the triple jump, hammer, javelin, sprint, hurdles and even swimming which Sonic enlisted the aid of a life jacket in order to compete in. This was followed up in early 2008 with an outing on the Nintendo DS in which they once again crossed swords.
