Your Weekend Starts Here: Wallpapers & More. |
Welcome to the weekend; now as I swan off to work to find out if I still have a job (company in administration, yay) I'm sure many out there are logging back on to SW for the first time since last weekend and are wondering what's happening - to you I say look at the post below and to the rest of you I say I hope you have a good weekend and I have an update for you to enjoy. Firstly the wallpapers page in the Shadow Depository is now up, and you can help yourselves to this weekend's updates. These are Shadow's Heroes BG, the Sonic Battle official BGs and the majority of the Sonic Wrecks backgrounds - I've even included the 'Wescin Rocks' background. Now then, the 'lyrically themed' front page titles seem to have gone down a storm, and in a clearly insane move that I'm bound to regret later I've added over 50 new ones. Yes; over 50. The Amy skin people have had some love... (Read more) |

5.0 On The Richter Scale! |
Right then, hello and welcome back to Sonic Wrecks - the all NEW Sonic Wrecks version 5, things should still be familiar enough that you aren't too disorientated. I'd better tell you what's going on first and foremost. If you weren't aware already (and shame on you if this is the case) SW's been away for awhile, mainly because Metal Sonic blew our last headquarters up. However, our new abode is rather tasty and some details are given in the right hand column. Things are still getting going and there is no new comic just yet but needless to say #036 is on it's way. Hopefully there'll be a few comics in quick succession if the going is good;, speaking of the comics though all the comics to date are accessable through the new and improved Comic Archive which through the wonders of technology actually allows you to see both the chronological order and the order related to the individual story arcs. Not only that but the gaps have been filled with regard to comic notes and the last comic (#035: "Tratior's Gate") has a new disclaimer section to replace the timer. Things such as the meaning behind 'Wescin Rocks', what will happen to the gravely injured Frost, where everyone goes from here and whatnot will be revealed in the fullness of time. What else can I tell you? Well the Shadow Depository IS BACK and short of an utter disaster it's back for good. You can as of this moment access the Sonic 2006 vocal tracks and Boss (Character VS) theme as well as a couple of tracks from Sonic Adventure 2. There's also a good 50+ gaming related fonts in there if you go through the miscellaneous page. You will notice the tendancy for things to change, for instance the top image will be changing often. News is now covered through cutenews, so updating will be a bit easier and more organised. You can also post comments - isn't that groovy? The cast page is down MOSTLY, this is because the cast page is being upgraded massively. You'll get an idea when you go in there and find all the characters listed and there are some surprising additions. One of which you can access now along with Sonic, Shadow and Metal Sonic but their stories are long so I'd be prepared for an eyeball workout. The Radio Redux section is also boasting a variety of downloads; in there now is a couple of the adverts, which includes 'Mario Pizzaria' for Enerjak (aww, bless him, he loves it so), all three versions of the RR theme tune "Y'Know It Rocks", the full length unbroadcasted version of Vector singing Coldplay's "Fix You", the Big the Cat interview from episode three as well as all the entries from "The Wrecks Factor". Which reminds me, you can now vote on who was your favourite contestant and your vote will decide who will win half the entire vote! Not only that but you now CAN vote for Roareye Black - if you want, as he is now an official entrant. I HAVE SPOKEN! But yeah, vote now for your favourite. If your ears still aren't bleeding however there is an edited version of Dreadknux's entry with backing vocals from Darkspeed (that shameless comic award stealing hussy :p) which are more than worth your entrance fee. There is also to round things up, an acapella version of 'All Hail Shadow' done by Echo Hawk which was her 'B' song. Plus a HOT announcement on the identity of the 3rd judge joining Demx and T-Bird coming your way within the week. Heh. Check out what is there, be patient on what is not. IF something's not working properly and it seems it should be then send an email to fixme(at)sonicwrecks(dot)com. archangeluk@ and radioredux@ are also valid emails now. Oh yes; please don't go overboard changing the new skins around every five minutes... your choice WILL stick as you go about the site and will stay like that for 60days-ish. SW is back, my plans are big and we're officialy serving notice to every other Sonic site out there; come July and the SSA 2007 You. Are. Toast. Evolve THIS you naysayers. Have a nice day |

New News Feed & The 'Whackdown On The Wireless' - AAUK Vs Dreadknux! |
There is a new addition to the SW front page, as you can now get hold of Sonic Wrecks updates thanks to a lovely news feed - something Sheza asked about some time back. Firefox and IE7 users will spy the lit feed icon on their browsers, whilst additional icons are found underneath the navigation section.
Also, in a devious move which has netted him a lot of votes, Dreadknux has implied that SW are cheating in the Wrecks Factor by changing the rules. Mainly because there is now a forfit to be paid by the person finishing last - the truth is this was instigated as an addition following The Sonic Hour's claims that Roareye was in the contest when he wasn't. The (welcome) addition of Roaris creates a 'non-podium' position and as such the wooden spoon winner will now also have to do a forfit. Seems fair to me; especially as the whole situation cocked up the nice balanced point scheme I had going. (The winner gets a prize from me, unless it IS me and then the others have to get me a prize as has been stated on the podcast before.)
TSS also say that it is designed to help me win which is utterly false. This antagonistic statement is a bit rich considering Dread's "vote for me" pimping of the poll on The Sonic Hour for the last four weeks like the man-Rouge he is.
Anyway, connections permitting, I'm going to be on next week's Sonic Hour show - Sunday, 6pm UK time (Sunday! Sunday! Sunday!) - to answer the challenge of a verbal jousting match with my good friend, the lean green B/S machine. I'll also be announcing the finalised point structure and the secret identity of the third judge as a news exclusive to them so tune in... |

Server Issues & Huge Updates: The Whole Shebang |
Right, so here's the latest updates: the permissions on my news system got reset by my host which caused the php()idunnowhatthatis!?; errors that appeared. That has now been fixed but by doing that it apparently reset all 'active' - i.e. non archived - news. However i've managed to salavage the gist of it all from the RSS feed, even if I haven't got all of the stories. So this time I've lost all news posts since the 12th! Good grief. Right so THAT'S fixed, the email appears to be working again as Outlook Express can find my accounts now, the splash page has been fixed so the YTMND comic promo is gone again. I can't edit the poll yet so I've commented that out for the time being until I can change it to something more relevant. The latest on vdeck is that it's almost fixed, I can do somethings, but like I said the poll is a no-no currently and not only that but the thing keeps warning me I'm over memory quota on the front page which is understandable as I've gone from 750Gb to 500Mb - at least according to vdeck, but that'll all be sorted in the long run no doubt. And if it isn't I'm gonna get very angry. Anyway on to what I had said last night before it was lost: Greetings! The last couple of days have been FUN... (Read more) |

Sonic Wrecks - Server Outage & Content Loss |
30 January 2007, 22:58:56
Due to an unknown server issue Sonic Wrecks went down for an unknown period of time. Following contact with StartLogic the issue has been rectified, SW being restored from a backup, however it seems we've lost everything that's gone up from the 23rd onwards. I have reposted the show notes for the new Radio Redux and reupdated all the pages in the short space of time I've had but last influx of adverts are gone and the poll has also reverted to a previous poll.
This will all be rectified tomorrow when I will also upload some more items for the shadow depository. |

#201 - The Wrecks Factor |
26 January 2007, 14:29:38
The results are here! Who has won The Wrecks Factor contest? There's a three hour show waiting to be enjoyed by your goodselves so head on over to iTunes (or whatever) and download! The full show notes are also up and can be found in the approrpiate section under 'Radio Redux'.
Edit: Something for the weekend - all the RR season one adverts, barring the first 'Radio Redux Rocks' one are now online in the Radio Redux downloads sections as well as 'Charmy Got Back', I've also fixed the full version of 'Vector Sings Coldplay' which vanished. Not only that but I've added a smattering of new sound clips to the Shadow Depository and updated the Radio Redux statpod again. |

The Wrecks Factor: VOTING CLOOOOOSED! |
24 January 2007, 22:34:59
How was your Wednesday? It's snowing here, so I'm freezing; anywho the poll for the Wrecks Factor has closed with immediate effect, with the show - the first of the new series of Radio Redux - being recorded tomorrow with a possible over-run for Friday. In any case if you want questions answered best send them in NOW not to archangeluk@ but radioredux@ (sonicwrecks.com obviously). I have all the songs I need - whoever asked me about Botnik's Mini-Boss theme I lost your email, and though it's not what you specifically asked for I'm playing it on the first show.
I am, at the time of posting, giving a nice sized update to the Shadow Depository so you'll now find some more GTA fonts (thanks to Blake on those), comics salvaged from a dead site (through misc), a few videos and the original sound file that started the fad - THAT'S NO GOOD! That and there are a few new...

It's Just ANOTHER Manic Monday |
22 January 2007, 21:52:15
I'm not sure what to classify this update as, as it is to do with both Radio Redux and the Shadow Depository - and I'm not sure what'll happen if I say both.
Before I say anything though, I have some community news: The CJF Network is currently undergoing their CJFfest event so I suggest looking that up, also whilst I'm hoping to get some more music up onto the site in the relatively near future if you fancy a slice of retro-Sonic memorabilia then the great and powerful T-Bird is selling a super-nice hyphen-inducing near mint copy of the Sonic The Fighters official CD on eBay. Click here if you are interested.
So, Radio Redux update news - the RSS has been changed in preparation for...

Wrecks Factor 3rd Judge Announcement - OMG!!!! |
21 January 2007, 19:09:07
In an interview with fellow contestants Dreadknux and Roareye, it was announced on The Sonic Hour that the third judge of 'The Wrecks Factor' will be SEGA themselves!!!
Told that community liason Rom will be sending in the third judges marks the tracks having been played around the SEGA Europe offices Dreadknux seemingly went white live on air, impressive for an audio only feed, it was also announced that the public vote poll will end on January 24th.
Edit: Also RR14 notes will go up tomorrow. |

The ArchangelUK Hour? |
20 January 2007, 22:10:11
Well, it's not Radio Redux exactly, but it's kind of the crossover that occured last season reversed... Sonic Wrecks head honcho ArchangelUK (that's me) will be appearing LIVE on The Sonic Hour tomorrow from 6pm (UK Time). You can listen to me talk, which will end up probably being 'argue' with Roareye and Dreadknux, n0ice.
You can listen to the show by going on to SEGASonic Radio and hitching up to the stream - but remember, DON'T cross the streams... that would be extrordinarily bad.
Oh, Happy New Year to SW's islamic fans and also Happy Birthday to PowerPrower who shares his birthday with Will Young... oh well, you can't win them all... |

Fank Foodness Fit's Friday |
19 January 2007, 21:34:09
Your Friday update for this week is here, if you're coming in on the weekend you'll be pleased to know you've missed an awful lot over the last couple of days. Mainly the addition of two comics in two days, plus we have a few other things for you to mull over.
I've fixed the five fonts that weren't working before, but there is also two new additions on the Radio Redux media page. The Blue Ice Jewlery and Black Arms Recall adverts are now available in high quality audio for you to enjoy. That and, because I'm a glutton for punishment, there are another 11 headers which brings the total you could see on the front page to SEVENTY. Good grief!
These additions are lyrical gap fillers and so we now have headers that relate to both the Crush 40 and full Zebrahead versions of His World, the dreaded Wonderman as well... |

#037: You're In The Doghouse Now Man |
19 January 2007, 15:13:09 Surprise! With all the furore about YTMND we just couldn't help ourselves... so we've got a brief talk about what the situation means for Sonic Wrecks. |

You've Gotta Sprite... For Your Right... To Paaaarrrrrty! |
19 January 2007, 13:13:38
Well, the YTMND story is going to run and run, Sonic Wrecks might well have more to say on this later... I dunno.
Anyway I'm writing now to tell you about the several things, firstly we have a new affiliate - which I wouldn't do normally but felt obliged to baring in mind our status as No.1 Sonic Sprite comic. Roareye Black has just relaunched the Sonic Sprite Network on SSN and if you're even remotely interested in the 'proper' art of sprite work then I suggest you give it a long lingering look. The tutorials on there are an excellent place to start- I'm often asked to try and help people out with sprites and the like and always point out SSN so I'm doing it again now.
The Sonic & Shadow site awards can still be nominated for, check out this link here. Sonic Wrecks has been nominated for a few awards here and there, so we'll let you know if we remain in the mix. But they need nominations, so please help out what are essentially the 3rd tier Sonic awards as they need some promotion.
In other news we have regained our position as No 1 Shadow site!
I'm sure there was some more I had to say... hmm... I'll add the rest if I remember |

#036: Making Up Is Hard To Do (& More) |
Actually posted: 18 January 2007, 16:08:56
Happy Thursday! Er, yeah... Anyway there's a nice new comic for you, which should make everyone very happy even if you're not too keen on Thursdays. A couple of little things have been fixed as well as the archive being updated and a couple of internal links becoming active amongst the comics. #036 does have a full compliment of comic notes, whilst the last addition to #035's has also been made.

It's Just Another Manic Monday... |
(Actually posted 15th Jan)
Hello to anyone who's come from the SEGA City Blognik, as they (as in Rom) have very kindly pimped SW's return and the forthcoming Radio Redux series 2.
You'll be pleased to know that I AM working on the next comic, so you can quit bugging me about that - after that I'm gonna make another quick comic if I can and then concentrate on writing Chaotix X Ep 5. Anyway until such a time as that goes up and is done, I've got another shipment of stuff for the Shadow Depository. You can now grab some Sonic Adventure 2 wallpapers as well as twenty new gaming fonts - with more still to come! This batch contains fonts such as the old Afterburner arcade font, Wii and XBox360 fonts, several Zelda fonts (including a rather familiar looking Hylian font...hmmm...) and fonts from other games such as Donkey Kong Country, Commander Keen...
