SOE, Blognik & The Introduction Of Usergroups! |
Have you subscribed to our rss feed yet? SW updates so much it might be advisable you know.... Anyway I have news on E-On and SEGA Europe. SOE first, and unfortunately I'm still waiting on the Brand department to okay my return to the SEGA bastions. Come on you lot, I've served my time on the bench and I believe you still have a job that needs doing! Apparently my badgering has at least had some effect - the Blognik got a post about Rush Adventure. Lol. That's not my news though on SOE, as SEGA has made another hiring in the form of veteran industry peep Sarah Seaby (Take 2, among other things). She's going to be heading up the branding campaign on Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games. So basically all the ads and media we see out of SOE for the game will have gone past her from now on in. So yes, if the ads suck it's her fault - not that they will. E-On news now, and I've pretty muched maxed out all the things I can do with the language file now. I recieved a couple of private messages from folks asking about Usergroups and their introduction, well I've listened and planned and there are now four groups up and running. As you might expect they are somewhat odd in their dealings... (Read more) |

News & Updates: Depository, RR#211, Bird Con Vidcast? |
More updates for you, I am a busy little bee aren't I? Firstly I'll be recording the next episode of Radio Redux soon - purely designed to catch me up on the questions and requests before the next show occurs as I'm a bit behind. The show after (#212) could well be a vidcast from Bird Con depending upon a few factors. If you have any questions for the likes of T-Bird, Roareye Black, Dreadknux or others send them to radioredux (at) sonicwrecks.com. So updates: Yes even more updates from the most updating Sonic website around. Not satisfied with yesterdays efforts, I've added even more things to the backend to keep people entertained for a while more. The Depository meanwhile has had a couple of additions; at Demx's suggestion there is now a link to the soundtrack's relevant Shadow Depository album art on every page. The Images section has again been updated with another piece of clean cover art, this time for Sonic Spinball. Finally the Music seciton has also been given an addition - the next one in line chronologically: Sonic Chaos. |

Wedsnesday Round-up: Riders 2, Fanart, Notes, E-On... |
Wednesday Round-up... not to be confused with Woody's Round-up I have and more news and updates for your lovings; Violet (or Vi to E-On members) drew me a nice image of Shadow which was very nice of her. This can be found in Fan's Corner. The Shadow Depository has had a couple of updates as well, as the Images section now contains the logo and promotional poster for Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity. It also has an edited version of the promotional poster with a different tint that Demx created to put on Sonic Style. The comic notes for #046 have been also been added and the next skin has been rechristened "Sonic ShipWrecks". Thanks DC. Ram The Dragon has vowed, following a series of posts in E-On's thread on the comic "Shaddy Hogger & The Deathly Silence" to repeat her feat of (Read more) |

#048: Why Shadow In Zelda Wouldn't Work - Solsbury Hylian |
Okay, so we're taking a break from the storyline goings on and if the Redux Rabble are leaving to have a little example of a "What If" situation. Shadow takes on the mantle of Hero of Time for this 're-imagining' (damn you Tim Burton) of the beginning of Ocarina of Time. We might have a couple of these.
In other news, there is a new skin underway, not that any of you it seems read the Forthcoming Projects area on the news page. Pff. I've also fixed a couple of bits with regard to the latest page, so hopefully new comics will get noticed on webcomiclist.com again. I'd wondered why we'd dropped low again, turns out the year had somehow become 2006 for the last update field... your guess is as good as mine on that one.
Also, while I'm sure SW looks much better on Discoponies widescreen laptop now it seems centralising the background makes it shove a bit over to the left, thus making the navigation section look a bit skew-wiff. I dunno why it does this, so until I've looked into it some more I'm putting it back the way it was. So nyah. |

OverClocked Remix - The Lost 3rd Sonic Project! |
I'm astonished no one's really seen this before, but the good peeps at OCR put together a special project based around arguably the most remixed game level ever - ICE CAP! It's new, called "ReCapitated" and you can find it now in the Shadow Depositry music section along with the following soundtracks added today - SEGASonic The Hedgehog and Sonic CD (US) and (Jap/Euro). I don't care if it was an April Fool or not, a few of the tracks are pretty darn snazzy. The sexy album art I created for ReCapitated can be found below. |

Sonic Site Awards: Why You Should Vote For Us |
The SSA have begun - with a shock. I was hoping for one more year before SW made the leap, but it seems all the hard work I've been putting in has lead to me skipping a year. SW is now classified as an Elite site. What does this mean? No, we're not going to turn into a wireframe spaceship, but from now on Sonic Wrecks will only be elligable for one award in the SSA only- The Elite Award, where the "Big Boys" play. I find this disapointing in a way, as I won't have the opportunity to defend my Entertaining Award and get a hat trick or attempt to wreak my terrible blood crazed vengence on Darkspeeds for last years victory in the combined Comic award. On the plus side, SW should now command a bit more respect... (okay fat chance of that but a guy can dream.) Our nemiseseseseseseseseeeseese from last year Sonic Cage Dome have also been bumped up, which creates a very interesting (Read more) |

Sonic Show Media Awards, Depository & Technical Updates |
With the SSA nominees due to be announced imminently I thought you'd best be made aware that phase one of the Sonic Show Media Awards is near its conclusion. If you still want to vote you can do so at http://soniccagedome.com/thesonicshow/index.php/nominate/ but beware you only have until THIS FRIDAY. Depository Updates: Sonic Channel updates have been funneled through to the Depository. Colouring (Misc) has had a colouring paper of Chaos uploaded to it, Lettercraft (also Misc) now has Knuckles themed envelope and letter PDFs and an Amy letterhead as well. The last three backgrounds with the new 3D renders of Sonic, Tails & Knuckles have been added - sadly these have calenders on them regardless. Expect me to replace some of the header artwork with the new renders at some point. Unless we end up with some promotional tie-ins with Riders 2 or Rush Adventure the next characters featured will be Shadow, Amy, Rouge, Eggman and Metal (not neccesarily in that order) don't ask how I know. But count on that. XD Technical Updates: As the background 'correction' was acceptable for widescreen laptop users it has been rolled out to the Amy skin, whilst the centralisation edits for the itemTable have been rolled out across the Amy, SatSR and Mario skins. The code for all the Depository Wallpaper pages has been somewhat tidied. E-On/EchoNet: I will not comment fully on the Sheza situation atm, but I am very disappointed to hear the news posted yesterday. Very. |

Wanted: Sheza- Forum Deviant at Large |
Finally I post some news, but I'm sad to say it's nothing of humor or intrigue.
Founder of Echoworlds, and former administrator Sheza, has hacked into the CJF (CJ and Friends) forums root administration account and deleted several topics containing original typed fiction works, deleted a number of accounts and more or less created a stockpile of work for the forum founder CJMErl.
The theory behind these attacks is as follows. Former root administration of Echoworlds, that transferred to EchoNET, was demoted and banned from the forum for his abuse of power. It is believed that this action has caused some understandable bitterness for Sheza. However this bears no excuse for these actions or his behavior.
Please, if you come into contact with him, adress these matters at once. This destructive behavior has caused not only work but also damage to other person's property. He is no longer welcome at EchoNET on any circumstance, or CJF forums, and his presence at E-On is pending.
To CJF, myself and the SW crew extend our sympathy in your tribulation, and offer any assistance we can.
Good luck, Echo Hawk |

CSS, Sounds and E-On For SSA Nomination? |
We may find out tomorrow what's going on with the Sonic Site Awards, but tonight on JJ4eva's SSR show "Randomness Strikes" guest Dreadknux was rather commending of Sonic Wrecks and on a couple of occasions mentioned Entherial Online (now up to 50 members, keep joining guys) saying how good it was. Could it be E-On has bagged a Best Forum nomination?
E-On btw got a bit of a jazzing up yesterday with some more customisation, hidden bits added as well as the introduction of a special test bed for future additions and the installation of the accurs'd strikethrough command.
The default skin has had a little tweak, which hopefully will make it appear better on widescreen laptops - I have no way of testing this JAY, so I can only hope it looks moderately better. But also all instances of itemTable (sub tables used in the depository and such) should now also properly be centred if viewed in DireFox- I mean FireFox.
In other news, I've added four more headers to the Default skin, all of which are references to the Sonic CD vocal tracks Cosmic Eternity and Believe In Yourself. Finally, hopefully by the end of this evening all the mp3s that were in the Dep Sounds section will have been reuploaded. |

Dude, THERES my FTP! |
Okay the FTP seems to be working again now....sort of. I've also got a gaurantee that the script that was run erasing the MP3 extension media has been put out of comission and I'll never have it bother me again. In related news, the Radio Redux media section is back in its entirity having been restored by the StartLogic peeps. |

Dude! Where's My FTP? |
Lol, seems I've somehow broken the FTP on SW. About 14hrs ago it just sort of... stopped and now refuses ANY file and tells me the disk is full, which is hilarious as I've OODLES of space. StartLogic are on the case (they tried it as well and got the same result) so there won't be any more additions in terms of pages/media until its fixed.
Apparently this will be done within 24-48hrs. So start the clock!
If it takes longer hopefully I'll get the pizza free..... |

Depository Reinstallation: Stage One (w/Exclusive), Misc News. |
The SWA page has been updated and the Silver Hand awards have been added, so there is only two left now. I'll get on those soon as I can.
Don't forget about joining E-On (Entherial Online) the Sonic Wrecks Message Board by going to sonicwrecks.com/forum. We've nearly got 50 peeps now and we look forward to having more people to natter to. On that score we now know, thanks largely to the efforts of Ram The Dragon a lot of ranks and others have found that certain words are replaced with others
All Radio Redux banners are now emblazoned with the No More Blue logo for all shows up to and including #212 as part of a sponsorship deal. There has also been a couple of changes with the Statpod in the Radio Redux section, as RR#114 has taken over from RR#113 in second place. #207 should again be working having been recovered thanks to great work from Strata I think it was.
I've begun the task of resorting the Shadow Depository following Black Thursday. I can announce the following are available from the Music Section: Sonic The Hedgehog, Sonic The Hedgehog (8-Bit), Sonic 2, Sonic 2 (8-Bit), Dr.Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, Sonic 3, SONICTEAM Unplugged - Live 2004, Sonic Rivals and the SW exclusive complete collection of tracks from Sonic Rush - including several "lost" tracks, that I like to call the Sonic Rush: Burning Blaze Complete Collection. All tracks now have album artwork and other details, enjoy. |

More Sonic Rush Adventure Details Let Slip |
A double page advert in this weeks MCV magazine has inadvertantly given us some new details about Sonic Rush Adventure. The launch date is seemingly set in stone at Sept 14th for one, but a boss fight is revealed to be a giant pirate robot (Sonic only comes up to his shin) you combat whilst running up and down the mast of a pirate ship.
It also confirms that you will endulge in 'Battle Races', by the look of things against the green fellow with the shark-like head seen on promotional artwork. These it seems, if the screenshot is correct, will be for CHAOS EMERALDS - leading to the likelyhood of a Super Sonic piratey showdown and possibly also the return of Burning Blaze. Or should that at be Burnin' Blarrrrrze?
Retailer info also shows you can "access multiplayer games using Wifi, DS Download or DS Wireless" and that the game features "unlockable items to decorate and expand Sonic's base island." |

#210: The Espio & Echo Show |
"Something" has happened to ArchangelUK as apparently he has gone on vacation... to hospital; in his stead Espio The Chamelion breaks into the Radio Redux studio and hosts the entire show, with Echo Hawk for company. What will this devilish duo get up to and what secrets of RR's operations will they reveal before the ghastly musical conclusion?
This episode is sponsored by NoMoreBlue.
(Please note this was recorded a while ago, so if you've sent in questions you'll have to wait until #211 for answers I'm afraid.) |

Black Thursday: WE WIN! |
OH HELL YES! I finally got a response from StartLogic over the 'Black Thursday' incident and it even resembled something of an apology... The responder a Ron Truex (best name EVER) emailed me not long ago with the following message:
Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting the StartLogic Quality Assurance Department.
Unfortunately there was a script that was ran however, from my understanding that script has not been ran and I have not heard of any plans to run it again. I have several options on the restore. I can restore the entire site howeverthat will overwrite any new content that you have changed on the site since the restore, or if the files were all in one directory I can restore just that directory, or I can restore the entire site to a separate folder but that would require you to manually move the files. We are in the process of doing a major upgrade to the system and as we get closer to that start date there is currently planned emails to help keep you informed.
Now admittedly that first sentance makes NO sense whatsoever, but at least we now know that I should have no more hassle. I've been keeping you folks up to date on issues from the get go and so I'll let you know what I've sent BACK.
I don't QUITE understand how a script that was not run still ran; but I can move forward now and shouldn't have to worry about losing all my stuff again. Plus I can calm my, somewhat agrieved fanbase down. Heh.
I have already begun a reinstallation of the files lost but the /dep tree is very long and I've done too much recovery now to warrant its restore there. However, I would appreciate if a restore of the folder /public_html/radio/media was made; this is due to several of the files being of a large nature and it being difficult to upload over my limited connect speed, the lack of resumable uploads on the server (any way to change that?) and the fact the connection times out every 2 hours.
I would also like though to have your personal assurance I will notendure this situation again however.
Thank you for your response.
Expect the Shadow Depository 2.0 uploads to be reclarified and launched officially very soon, also expect Radio Redux #210: The Espio & Echo Show to come your way soon as well.

URGENT: SOS FROM THE SONIC SHOW |
You remember I said The Sonic Show had all their episodes removed from THEIR provider? Well their backups drive has failed which means they no longer have any episode whatsoever of the entire series.
Discoponies is asking people who have any episode from the series so far (including any of the ad bits they've done) to upload them WHEREVER they can and send the links to sonicshow@hotmail.co.uk.
This is a matter of great urgency. Thank you. |

"Black Thursday" - Latest |
Well we've had some progress, though God knows they are taking their time. Basically the progress is that my second ticket (i.e WHY THE HELL DID YOU NOT BOTHER TO INFORM ME) has been bundled in with my first ticket. Nothing has been ruddy done about it yet, but you get the idea.
Frankly this is taking too long... I accept the weekend might be a time where no one really works much there, but they've had a sizable chunk of Friday and all of Monday now. Not happy. |

The Sonic Show: Good News, Bad News |
Yes more news, I did warn you...
Bad news: The Sonic Show was removed on the basis the host got all panicy about the use of Sonic's name. How bloody ridiculous.
Good news: Thankfully, yes we have some news to make you somewhat happier. Jay/Discoponies has gotten engaged to his man-partner whose name escapes me - Sonic fan wedding! |

The Sonic Show Latest |
More on the deletion of all the Sonic Show episodes that occurred the same time as SW's files were erased by its host. Here is the latest from Discoponies himself, posting in SW's E-On messageboard.
I decided to log into my media hosting to send a ticket saying "OMFG WHY IS MY FILES GONE BITCH" but not only have they removed my files but DELETED my account with them. My account doesnt exist according to them when I log in.
ALSO, The Sonic Show FLV and MP4 files are hosted by a different company so it HAS to be unrelated to the Wrecks... but STILL odd to happen at the same time.
So why has Jay's account gone tits up? Again more when we have it - stay tuned to SW over the next week, we're covering quite a few more topics atm than most. |

CJMErl has found the following Sept issue cover of Play magazine to be claiming the first look at Sonic Riders 2. Curiouser & Curiouser.... |
It's a busy few days for Sonic fan news it seems, so I'd keep an eye on SW for today. If you missed the events of the last few days you've missed A LOT.... anyway up first on this updatey the SSA Stage One has closed, so no more nominations can be made; depending on what happens I might have more community news for you later on regarding this and other matters.
The BIG news however is there has been another victim after SW of Sonic media being deleted by the host - this time The Sonic Show have had every episode of their award winning podcast removed by the host. Why this is has yet to be determined, SW will keep you abreast of all news as and when we get it.
I am hoping this is a coincidence... still I would recommend sites backup their media at this time just in case. |

The Sonic Billboard Countdown: July 2007 Chart |
I've no more details for you atm regarding the file removal issue by my host, I am still waiting to be contacted further on this matter.
In better news I can at least tell you that the Radio Redux stream has been updated and now contains the latest Sonic Billboard show with July's chart throwing up some real surprises - NO DREAMS OF AN ABSOLUTION IS PLAYED! Check it out.
Also I didn't mention it before but a new piece of artwork from Ram is up in Fan's Corner of "He Who Must Not Be Rusty".... |

File Removal Latest: 16:53 (GMT) |
I'm now classing this as Technical news for a good reason; ALL files ending mp3 were removed that includes all skits, adverts and files relating to Radio Redux and any instance of a sound effect in mp3 format as well.
I have spoken to a representative of StartLogic via their support chat, who frankly was genuinely sympathetic and I have now on his suggestion fired off an email to their administrator demanding answers and reassurances that will allow SW to continue doing what it is doing and also ensuing that this will NEVER happen again.
Again I will keep you informed of all updates relating to this, as of this time the reinstalled tracks from last night are still there. There's a new Sonic Billboard up, but I'm not bothering to update the stream until I'm sure things are okay with SW.
If anyone sees Demx tell him IMMEDIATELY he needs to take action to ensure that his site does not also fall prey to this issue. |

Depository Latest |
Right, email from StartLogic recieved and it seems THEY were the ones responsible and erased everything ending with .MP3 off my site. They didn't bother to inform me of this naturally, they just did it. It's a bit rich asking me for justification for the mp3s AFTER doing that... they coud at least have given me a chance. Anyway I'm stopping uploading for now until I have reassurances this will not be happening again.
I'm very angry and upset, this probably means the last 24hrs have been worthless and I'll now have to think about where I go with StartLogic... |

I've still got nothing from StartLogic by way of explanation and was up all last night mitigating some of the damage casused. Sonic Rivals is once again live and we've got two new additions as well in the Sonic The Hedgehog and Sonic The Hedgehog (8-Bit) soundtracks at SD 2.0 standings. More still to come...

NOTICE: MASS DEPOSITORY FAILURE |
It seems last night at 17:12 on my server some 30 folders relating to the dep/music section were wiped clean. Why this happened I have no idea, I'm rather destraught about the whole thing frankly as I've lost a week plus of updates in the depository.
The new Sonic Rivals soundtrack is DOWN as is more or less everything in the music section. I have NO idea what the hell has happened and am quizzing StartLogic about this right now, I was uploading stuff last night but do not believe for a moment the FTP queue could do this, only one folder was actually being altered - the Sonic Rush folder as I had just finished uploading it.
I will let you know more when I get it.

AAUK Responds To "Yodagate", New Flash Game & More... |
Fancy name huh? Well no I really want to respond to the comments made on Sonic Yoda with their refocusing on pure Sonic fan friendliness. I know I've been seemingly a bit slow in this but I was waiting to see what actually happened. Now Yoda's new version is out I can say that I wish Lewis well in these endeavours and he was very right about pretty much everything he said. If he wants to try and patch up the differences in the fanbase good luck to him, its a monumental task/ask but Sonic Yoda strikes me as the sort of guy determined enough that he might, if not pull it off, make at least some kind of significany impact. The actual comments seem to have gone now, but as I say I agree. It's very silly that the sites can't all get along - everybody seems to polarise when it comes to sections of the fan community. Everybody seems to have at least one site they either don't get along with or hate with absolute loathing. Do Sonic Anime still hate us? Hmmm... Your guess is as good as mine. SW itself has no issue with any particular site, we were a bit grr at Sonikku Comikku (and for good reason) but it was still a relatively good natured grr. Personally, I know SW will NEVER be accepted by everyone and am inclined not to care about this much. Though I admit that I find some comments about such rather hurtful especially when you consider the unquestionable effort I put in to SW and its activities. I like to call this Spritecomicitis as you might recall, something that can be attributed for Sonic Style STILL seemingly not getting the recognition I at least think it deserves. The people who don't like sprite comics because they're sprite comics don't like us and in many instances refuse to acknowledge us. How many times have I read "I wouldn't know, its a sprite comic so I don't go there/never gone there/is a bunch of s***." Also of course we have the dreaded re-coloured characters, so this upsets a lot of the spriting pureists. Hey, I don't claim to be a great spriter, in fact I openly claim to being a s*** spriter. But at least I'm a DAMN POPULAR spriter! This is not to mention those few who just dislike me/SW for one reason or another but never say as to why - presumably as they have no reason. So yes, we need to unite a bit more peeps; less loathing, more lovin' in the community! Oh yes, UltimaHedgie - Re: The Sonic Show in the graphics award; I was refering to their 'white' skin which rocked all kinds of socks, this unfortunately has seemingly been replaced now with the old blue skin which sucks all kinds of ass - as I have told Discoponies myself. FINALLY, we have more content for the Shadow Depository! Yes, the Sonic Adventure video page has been transfigured to SD 2.0 and has some more vids on it. Plus the Flash section (in Misc) has a new Sonic flash game on it in the form of SEGA's very own The Broad Jump. It's in Japanese but you'll get the gist, enjoy! Also: The new Sonic Billboard Countdown should be out on Radio Redux very soon and stay tuned for the result of the question sweeping the nation: Has Demx pinched my podcast RSS feed image? Find out soon... also if you misspell 'thank' as 'thak' what is a thak? A thatched yak? Discuss. |

88.4 Reasons To Love Sonic Wrecks, Eggman Empire & More... |
As part of the continued redevelopment of the Shadow Depository I'm pleased to announce more progress. The SEGA Splash! Golf vids page (I think we're the only site actively trying to report on this) has been updated to the new style and I've added a new Shadow The Hedgehog videos page, this page is complete and has 88.4Mb worth of content on it. It contains adverts, cut scenes, the Tokyo Game Show footage, ALL ten ending videos - yes even the missing one that FastFeet doesn't have (as I actually asked Saikyomog, who also recently provided me with another video for the future, if he could provide me with the missing one - and he went and redid it for me within the day, what a guy!). Incidentally FFM is welcome to grab that. The latest installment of The Sonic Show is up, we get a feature once again or so I hear. I'll have to wait to download the thing on my crappy 56k to find out properly. SEGA won the Publishing Hero award at Brighton's Develop festival. If Dreadknux went down there and didn't tell me again I'll be.... rather annoyed. You have until August 10th to nominate for the SSA, just a reminder. You have until a date I can't recall to nominate for the SSMA, just a reminder. Speaking of awards, I got a very nice email from Eggman Empire who finally twigged they won something in the SWA LAST year. Anyway I'd like to share it with you. Yeah! Thanks for giving Eggman Empire the best specialist site award, it's a real honor. I just added it to our awards page, and I apologize for taking so long. Honestly, I didn't even know I'd received the award until fairly recently- I guess I was never contacted... But either way, I appreciate it, and as a fan of Sonic Wrecks, am quite honored to get this.
By the way, in case you were wondering about EE being down for a bit, it just reopened here: http://eggmanempire.sonicworld.net.
Thanks for everything, Doc EggmanHow nice is that? Anyway, enjoy the videos and other stuff. The next comic is underway and will be the next storyline comic - #047: Breaking Up Is Hard To Do. |

More Updates & An Exclusive. |
Right then more Depository stuff for you as I work tirelessly on more content for you and the categorising that which I have acquired into the new Depository layout.
Thoroughly reworked pages include (a corrected) Right Said Fred's "Wonderman", as well as new content in the form of Sonic Jam's soundtrack, two videos from Sonic Adventure 2 and four videos from Sonic Rivals.
There's two some gameplay footage and the trailer from E3 (GameTrailers.Com) as well as the official trailer. The fourth is to my knowledge an exclusive and its the Master Footage taken for the first preview trailer/viewings. Note the slightly beta-y look and lack of post production work on the graphics. |
