ABOUT THE SONIC WRECKS AWARDS & PREVIOUS WINNERS

The Sonic Wrecks Awards, also known for short as the SWA are the annual awards given out by Sonic Wrecks as a precursor to the officially recognised Sonic fandom awards the Sonic Site Awards (SSA) which are distributed by The Sonic Stadium. As a result we often state, as the banner says, that the awards are like the Emmy's to their Oscars, or perhaps a Golden Globe. Maybe a BAFTA at a pinch.

As a result of all this, the Sonic Wrecks Awards are less serious than their more senior counterparts and a lot more lighthearted. It's has a two stage process: primary nominations and a final selection of approximately five on which a vote actually is taken. It also, differently to the SSA has a mix of awards distributed by Sonic Wrecks ITSELF (on occasions) as opposed to those voted on in the polls by the public. The Awards are also known, affectionately, as the 'Handies' as the award is a bronze statuette (image :op) of the Master Hand. A special award is also made at the end, the so called SWA Silver Hand - a special award for contributions to the Sonic Community.

The Sonic Wrecks Awards are held directly before the SSA to allow you to get your daftness out of your system and the first SWA nominations are taken in May - please do NOT send in any applications or nominations until so announced by SonicWrecks.Com on the main news page. In its inaugural year in 2005, a two-part special (#S04) comic was released to coincide with the event also involving a special crossover with Sonic Style (sonicstyle.org). 2006 had no comic but a special 3hr Radio Redux podcast award show, which was topped in 2007 with a show lasting a gnats kneecap under 5 hours.
